The film received the award "for its narrative and cinematic perfection, the skilful blending of reality and imagination and also for highlighting the issue of the annihilation of ancient cultures and finally for its original and sensitive approach on the issue of the loss of one’s mother," says the Greek Federation of Film Societies’ Jury in their statement.
Director Nino Jacusso was present to accept the award and issued the following statement:
"Dear members of Greek Federation of Film Societies! In the name of the producer RECK Filmproduktion Zurich, Franziska Reck and co-producers Red Cedar Films/Really Real Films Vancouver, Henrik Meyer and Cynde Harmon and in the name of our cast, crew and the People Of The Creeks - I would like to thank you for the wonderful prize we got from your members at the Olympia Film Festival 2014 in Pyrgos.
It is a very special prize for us and very valuable, because it comes from professional colleagues and we know, how critical we can judge films.
So: Thank you very much.
A big thanks also goes to the whole staff of the Olympia Film Festival in Pyrgos and to the artistic festival director Dimitris Spyrou. With their love to the film they have made many things possible."
